Milking this morning I arrived on farm and it had been raining most of the night and was still raining. The cows where I milk have access to their kenneling over night, so they can lie out or lie in cubicles in the dry if they wish. The photos below show that although raining, they preferred to be lied up outside this morning. The only time in the summer you might find several in the cow kennels is when very hot and the flies are about. This time of year with the cows I get to do my favourite thing with them. Which is 'Bringing in the cows.' I could use the bike in the morning, but I prefer to walk out round them. Something about walking in with a herd of cows, especially as day is breaking that I really enjoy, but for the life of me could not explain to you why. Most just think I'm daft not to use the bike to round them up with.
Got this bit of footage of Treacle feeding her pups at 40 days old. Interesting to compare with the blog Suckle time at four days old to see how much they have grown
Received an email this morning with an update from one of our Smudge's litter sisters, Maddie. Since her last birthday Alison has got Maddie a canine companion, Indy. "Dear Jane, I hope this email finds you and the family all well. Maddie and her "sister" would like to wish Smudge and their siblings a HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY. I just don't know where the time has gone. In the photo is Maddie and her new "sister" Indy who is nearly eleven months old. We have had her from eight weeks. What a difference, Maddie is so lay back and quiet but Indy is like a "bull in a china shop". She shows no fear, runs round like a maniac, is very cheeky, defies Ray but is very obedient for me and is highly intelligent, but she is Soooo loving, she absolutely adores both of us and of course Maddie. They are best buddies and only scrap over the ball when they are playing. Treacles puppies are gorgeous and I can't wait to see how they grow up. Love to you all, Alison x" Thanks for the update. Indy looks a lovely girl. I hope all Maddie's litter siblings are well on the coming of their 6th Birthday and the same goes out to their families. Have a lovely day.
Sorry Sue and Colin for not putting this email greeting up sooner for Dottie. Sue emailed me nearly a week ago with 2nd Birthday greetings for Dottie's litter siblings. Which I blogged about 2nd Birthday updates and greetings "Hi Jane, Dottie two today ,happy birthday greetings to all her siblings, time has Just flown. We have just returned from a lovely week in Cornwall,Dottie had a wonderful time, the beach is her favourite place .We had hoped to pop in to see you on our way home but just ran out of time .We may have trip down in the autumn so may try again then ,it would be lovely to catch up with you again. Dottie has had a busy birthday ,long walk in bluebell woods ,new toy and a bone. I will try and send some photos ,just need my daughter Daisy's help as I'm hopeless with technology ! It's been wonderful to watch Treacles pups develop, she looks such a good mum. Love to you all, Sue Colin and Dottie .xx" And then received this email with some lovely photos of Dottie yesterday.
Thanks Sue and Colin for your lovely update on Dottie. Can hardly believe two years have nearly past since you visited us first to see Dottie.
Treacle's pups are now 37 days old and the slideshow on the left is Blottie in with the pups last night. The slideshow on the right are photos of the pups taken today.
