My turn to drive !

27/6/2012

Just had to quickly share this photo of Poppy out for an afternoon drive. Poppy is from Dolly's last litter with Reggie the Dad. I know these dogs are good to train but this is going to take a lot of beating Julie. Lol. Look out Pudsey, Poppy's coming through !

L to R, Belle, Jessica, Toby & Primrose
Thought I would start tonight with a lovely photo I caught of Belle, Jessica, Toby and Primrose lying together on our sofa in a row. The do look a rum crew. This photo makes me laugh as they sit there looking like butter would not melt in any one of their mouths.
We are now down to five of Smudge's litter after four of her pups left last weekend for their new homes. Ollie leaves this weekend leaving four who will be staying for their second vaccinations at 10 weeks old. We have now decided from now on we are keeping pups until 10 weeks old giving both the first jabs, so as to give us piece of mind when pups leave that they are protected. Parvo and Distemper cases have risen in recent years and a very young pup getting either virus it is signing their death warrant, so to save over vaccinating or confusion we will keep all pups to 10 weeks giving the primary course of vaccine.

Lastly Tonight I Finally Show
   You Fizz's Cavapoo Pups

Picture
Sarah's Fizz who we breed from our Ysobel and who's father is my sister's Poodle Rollo came and visited Reggie a few months back and from this visit Fizz has produced five gorgeous f1b Cavapoo pups. These are 3/4 Poodle and 1/4 Cavalier. Three of the boys are available they are all golden in colour and if interested in one of these pups you can contact Sarah by email at slroads@googlemail.com. This is a one of litter for Sarah to breed to keep one back from Fizz. Fizz is a very sweet dog who is a lovely family pet and good with children. Sarah I know has put a lot of effort into these pups and they have been reared in a busy home with children and will of been reared with a lot of care and love. I will try to get some more photos up in the next few days as they are just over four weeks old now.
I will try soon to get updates up on pups in their homes as also have some other interesting news about breeding and a meeting with someone who is campaigning for better health in all dog breeding and from this have some good links to help people when buying a puppy to find an ethical breeder.
I think I could do with a PA. Lol

Smudge's Usual Suspects now 8 weeks old !

21/6/2012

Smudge's Cavapoo pups reach 8 weeks old tomorrow and will start to leave us. They have been vet checked and microchipped, so now ready for their new homes.
Had a little problem this week with my camera deciding to give up. I think its just had one to many times being dropped on the floor by our children, so yesterday travelled into Barnstaple to get another camera and realised getting in to town that I had forgot my purse fortunately I had some cash on me  and scrapped enough to get a camera so that I could get some last photo's of Smudge's pups onto my blog tonight.
Our internet connection has also been playing up with the heavy rain and living on the side of a valley this can make using the computer a nightmare sometimes but the views make up for the pain of having a poor connection.
Hope to get back on track next week with updates as have quite a view to do and some lovely photos to share. Lets hope the weather can also get back on track to as really had enough of bringing in wood for the stove.

Happy Fathers day !

16/6/2012

Had to blog tonight as Fathers Day tomorrow in the UK, so wishing all those fathers out there that are Dads a Happy Fathers day. Any man can father a child but being a Dad takes hard work, so keep up the good work all those Dads out there.
The last of Cleo's pups left on Thursday being Milo and Katherine has emailed to say he travelled home well and is settling into his life of living in an all girls school. Don't think he's going to be lacking lots of cuddles. All the best with him.
We are now left just with Smudge's 9 pups who are now just over 7 weeks old. They have a visit from the vets this friday for check, microchip and first vaccination and then they will start to leave us but luckily a few of these will be staying for their second jab so will get another three weeks of their company and Dougle who is becoming a bit of a favourite will be staying until 11 weeks old. Trudi and family came to visit Dougle for the first time to day and hopefully their 5 hour journey down was worth it. Dougle certainly enjoyed their company.

Nothing like a real fire !

10/6/2012

That was a long 24 hours which turned into 8 days. My apologise for not blogging earlier but this week has been hectic with the children home on half term and two of our children's birthdays falling in this week. The weather has not helped making life just that bit harder work.
Yesterday morning just after 5am I was walking across a windswept field with the rain driving in my face calling in cows to milk. Normally this time of year they idly walk in with grass a plenty joined with the blanket of summer warmth but yesterday morning I was almost mown down as they stampeded into the cover of the yard and stalls, looking at me as to question why they where outside in the middle of winter.Lol.
Anyway would'nt of wanted to be any where else as have always enjoyed the challenge of what nature throws at you. I would enjoy a break from bringing in wood for our woodburner, all our heating runs of this. No flicking a switch for me if we need a bit of warmth. Nothing like a real fire but  when you've been tending it since late September by June the novelty can wear of slightly.
Since I last blogged Ted, Meg and Murphy of Cleo's litter have left with their new families and Lindsey the last pup with us from Millie's litter left for her new home. I wish all these families well and you know where I am if you need me.
So we have one of Cleo's pups still with us until next Thurday and that is Milo. Then with have Smudge's nine Cavapoo pups who are now just over six weeks old. They are now out and about and basically all over the place all showing the gentle confidence of mum Smudge who is doing such a wonderful job with her brood. Cleo is pitching in & allows Smudge's pups to suckle her when Milo is having a sneaky swig still at 9 weeks old.
Fizz who I spoke of on my last blog who has a litter of f1b Cavapoos is doing well with her litter now over a week old but I am at this time unable to upload the photo's sent me by Sarah on my blog. Will see if she can send me in a different format, so then I can share these photo's.
I also must get round to uploading updates and photo's I have recieved lately but been having a slight allergic reaction to my computer at the moment which seems to manifest its self in the form of me thinking about going on the computer and next thing I know I have fallen asleep on the sofa and my husband is waking me around 11pm. He's happy because he gets to watch the football without me deliberately trying to have an indepth conversation with him during a match.Lol
Well I'm of to have a well earnt glass of wine after entertaining one of our daughter's today who's birthday it was and sit in front of the woodburner roaring away (love these winter June nights)  and with football on again and the Canadian Grand Prix on later I think my husband will  be waking me later from yet another slumber on the sofa.

A bit tired !

2/6/2012

Hamish from Cleo's litter left today & Alie emailed earlier to say they got home to Wiltshire & Hamish was okay after their journey.
Tiredness took over last night, so did not get to blog & put photo's up. Have loaded up photo's taken over the last few days of the pups & dogs & must confess feeling to tired to title them tonight. Its my weekend on milking, so 5am starts from friday to sunday.
Have some exciting news about Fizz who visited Reggie just over a couple months ago, she has had 5 golden pups by Reggie being 4 boys & 1 girl. Fizz is a Cavapoo I bred & her pups are F1b's as they are a first cross Cavapoo back to one of the purebreeds of that cross in this case the Poodle. Sarah who family Fizz is part of had her scanned & was told one pup & she had her scanned twice both times being told one pup, so Sarah was a bit surprised when 5 popped out. Really cannot understand a vet missing 4 other pups but will blog lovely photo's I have been sent of the new born pups tomorrow along with a few catch ups with other Poundlane pups.

Cleo's pups ready for the off !

1/6/2012

Well, tomorrow see's the start of  my mum's  Cavalier Cleo pups leaving us, so mugshots have been done. They all went to the vets on wednesday to be vet checked, microchipped & some started their vaccinations with us.
Fitting in looking after this litter for my mum in between my two litters of pups has been hard work. When my mum wished to breed from Cleo I could not stand in her way, although I knew I would end up with the extra work due to my mum's health. The joy though they have brought my mum as she has watched them grow has been very theraputic for her, her health has not been good the last 12 months. They hopefully now will bring fun into the 5 homes they leave us for.
They are a lovely little bunch with alot of character. Hamish will be the first to leave tomorrow & although the smallest he certainly is not that small in character.
Will hope to blog later with lots more photo's of all the pups, as with all good intentions, (I hoped to blog last night but a couple phone calls, a long walk with some of the dogs which I did forget myself whilst out & my husband was just about to send out the search parties as I arrived back in the door under the cloak of darkness) sometimes you forget yourself. Walking does clear the mind & in my case you also forget the time.
