Did not realise the time !

11/1/2012

Did not realise the time as it has been a week since I last blogged. Some bad news & some good news to come.
I will get the bad news out of the way first. The lovely stud dog I had found, alas I will not be getting now as last Saturday evening recieved a phone call from the lady's husband saying "They were sorry but a muddle had happened & his wife did not realise he had already sold the dog to his friend & this would enable them to still use him for stud in the future as they lived close by." I said biting my tongue "I was very disappointed but thanks for ringing me." Bear in mind the deal for me to buy him had been made last wednesday evening & it had took until saturday evening to tell me of this, so me thinks this might not be the total truth.
This dog was for sale as for the classic reason that they live in a suburb & already have three girls & then decide to get their own stud dog & what happens next is every time a bitch is on heat the dog wants to mate them & with not enough room you are either going to end up with an unwanted litter or a very distraught dog. I have aquired to stud dogs over the years for the reasons above.
I think someone locally after she agreed for me to buy the dog approached them & said they could still use him so best of both worlds. I am very disappointed but also understand their dilemma as it is hard to find nicely marked Cavalier stud dogs but still leaves me without a Cavalier stud dog, sorry Madeleine. The search resumes.

Millie who is on heat now & we hope to breed from this time with Reggie is nearly ready to cuddle up with Reggie as who could resist his woolly charm. They have been doing little love dances together as she tests his suitability as a mate & this is such a pretty part of the courtship which is not much talked about but is very important part were the male dog shows his apptitude, social skill, strength & breeding prowess to the girl.
Primrose has come on heat a couple days after Millie & luckily Millie has distracted Reggie from her but care has to be taken as we do not wish to breed from Primrose yet.
Reggie is pretty relaxed about the girls on heat & is like an old pro & knows the right time, so does not wind the girls up prematrurely trying to mate them & does not threat or stress out about it showing that he has a very sound temperment.

Lucy's Cavapoo pups are just over 5 weeks old now & photo's of them are over the last 7 days. We only have the girl without a name at this time & she wears a yellow collar but is pretty distinct with her four white feet & white around her nose. The purple collar boy is Henry, red collared boy Toby, orange collar boy Spencer & the green collar boy Mojo.
The good news tonight is Belle's prognosis after her injury to her leg. The specialist orthopedic vet feels that we need to keep a close eye on it & if it shows signs of deformity like bending unaturally at the end of the radius she may need surgery later on but as she is so young he feels that this is a slight possibility & feels that she is more likely to make a full recovery without surgery. The letter was written much more technically than I have put it but the gist of it is we have a very good chance of a full recovery. So fingers crossed !
Lastly tonight are photo's of Otis from Ysobel's litter & Luna from Dolly's litter. All is going well & thanks for the photo's. I also had a lovely update from Dawn who had Edward from Dolly's litter but at this time I can not figure out how to get them on my website in the format you sent but thanks for the lovely photo's & update & will hope to figure out how to get the photos on here. Thanks to everyone who has talked to me on the phone & emailed since having your pups from Dolly & ysobel & wish you all the best with your new charge.

Great to hear the good news about Belle, and really sorry you have been disappointed about the Cavalier. I do hope something comes along soon as you have been waiting so long. Lucky for us, our wait for Spencer is nearly over, although the shopping isn't! Thanks for the recent photos and for looking after them all so well

Sorry to hear the news about the Cavalier Jane - that must have been so disappointing for you. Fingers crossed that you find another boy soon.
Poppy has had her second vaccination (she wasn't very brave I'm afraid - everyone in the vet's reception area heard her yell) so we are looking forward to Tuesday when she will be able to go out! She been getting used to the car, learning to sit and come and house training is almost there with just the very occasional mishap. Our two cats don't think she is as cute as we do but they don't seem to mind her being around which is a relief as we know people whose cats left home once a pup was introduced. Poppy is a little baffled as to why they don't want to play and sits about a foot or two away from them wagging her tail hopefully while they just give her hard stares. After just two weeks of them being together we think that that is pretty good going as we had been expecting it to be a bit like Tom and Jerry!

Hello Jane,

I was going to phone you later to see how Belle was getting on. Really glad that her prognosis is looking good & fingers crossed that all stays well, she looks a real beauty! I hope it doesn't take much longer before you find a Cavalier Stud I can imagine how disappointed you must feel & to leave you so long before telling you is totally bang out of order! Lucy's puppies look adorable. I want them all....... Hope that you are all keeping well.

Best Wishes

Tracey xx :-)

Hi Jane, I am so sorry to hear about your little cavalier stud dog.
Something not right there, you take people at face value and they
treat you let you down. On a happier note, so glad that little Belle is doing well, she is a beautiful girl. Fingers crossed all goes well with Millie & Reggie another busy time ahead for you.
Kind regards
Glenda

Sorry to hear about your stud Jane!
Such a shame! If I lived any closer I would happily lend you Oliver (for the girls he isn't related too obviously!! lol) I'm sure he wouldn't mind!

Hope you find a boy soon, maybe a Tri... I would love a tri puppy one day... ;)

Hi Jane,

So sorry to hear about your Cavalier boy - best you find out now that something isn't quite right.
Edward is settling in well - still a few mishaps in the house. He is a really big water drinker and will often have a wee every 10 minutes! We have fenced part of the garden off so he has a run but at times he is manic out there! Charging about like his is possesed!!He can't wait to get into the other bit.He loves digging the grass up and we have a nice patch of mud which he is drawn to!!
He enjoyed his puppy party but was a bit timid with the bigger puppies who were a bit boisterous for him. He is very brave here with the cat and I am sure they will come to blows sooner rather than later! He wants to play with her and at 19 years old she is not interested! Mind you she takes great pleasure in pinching his water!
