Feeling like a fraud and what we're about in 2016

I've been meaning to do this blog for a day or two. Firstly the feeling like a bit of a fraud. I have a lot of regular traffic to the website from past customers and a lot of the traffic are those looking for a Cavapoo and it is the ones looking for a Cavapoo that make me feel like a bit of a fraud. You probably searched 'Cavapoo breeder' and here you are. Now although I have bred Cavapoos, they are not the be all of what I am doing and for the foreseeable future I cannot see us breeding any first cross litters, so for a lot of you coming to this website I'm not a Cavapoo breeder really.

The Cavapoo is part of a bigger picture, breeding a healthier Cavalier type spaniel and next year will see us taking a F1 (First cross) Cavapoo to a second generation. At this moment we are probably only going to be breeding one litter in 2016 and this will be a F1b litter. Our F1 Cavapoo Treacle, who's details can be found on The Girls page,  will be mated, all health tests going to plan with Toby our pure Cavalier boy. Toby's details can be found on The Boys page. This will produce offspring that predominately look Cavalier, being 3/4 Cavalier and 1/4 Poodle. It will be surprising how quickly they will throw back to looking pure Cavalier, but they should be less exaggerated in the skull than a pure Cavalier. So we now start the journey to our next litter.

Last week rang the vet and booked in Toby for his annual heart check with the cardiologist vet, along with Smudge and Primrose who are now over 5 years old. Around 50% of Cavaliers have a heart murmur by 5 years old, so this is a big milestone for a Cavalier to pass, unfortunately for the breed. So I'm off to see the cardiologist vet on Wednesday morning next week, so fingers crossed.
Treacle should be on heat around Feb/March time, so pups on the ground around April/May maybe June if she heats late. If all goes well and this litter goes ahead we will hope to retain a male pup, which will then be used with our two Brittany/Cavalier bitches, Bumble and Blottie. If interested in this litter, no need to contact me now. Please read the website page Buying A Puppy From Poundlane This page will tell you how we run waiting lists etc.

The photos below were taken by our daughter Molly of Treacle and Toby on my lap and Treacle's parents Reggie and Dolly either side of me.
