'Hello's,  first haircut and green hair  !

28/5/2013

A couple updates first tonight. Oliver shows us his new family member and Archie his nephew  shows us his first haircut.
Oliver is Smudge's brother and was  three years old on the 17th May and his Mum is Millie with Charlie his Dad. Thanks Madeleine for sharing this lovely photo of Henry and Oliver together. Henry was born on Boxing day and is Madeleine's first child. Cavaliers are such lovely dogs with children and Oliver is living very much up to the reputation of his family and is very gentle with Henry. Email and photo below.

Oliver was 3 yesterday!
How quick has that gone!

Our baby Henry is doing really well and Oliver is the wonderful gentle boy I always knew he would be.
We go for lovely walks with the pushchair and Henry is fascinated with Oliver.

Hope you and your family are well.

Next tonight is Archie who is OLiver's nephew, as his Mum Smudge is Oliver's sister. Archie has just had his first haircut and thanks Angie for sharing his experience with the dog groomers. Sounds like he has his Mum''s and Gran's laid back outlook to life.

Hi Jane,

Hope all going well there! Just thought I would send you a photo of Archie after his first haircut yesterday! I took him to a brilliant groomer in Talaton and she has a really relaxed set up there. Nearly  booked myself in  for a pamper! She said he was the most well behaved dog she had ever had for his first experience! Has to be something in the Poundlane water! He did look shell shocked for the rest of the afternoon!
We are off to walk on Exmouth beach now so am hoping that with the combo of him being  camouflage sand coloured now, and a new spring in his step, he is still a good boy and remembers his recall !
We really enjoy seeing the photos and hearing what all his siblings are up to!
Wouldn't it be great to have a reunion one day!!

Take care and look forward to seeing you all in July!

Now for some Poundlane news. Dolly is now around six weeks pregnant and looking like a normal Cavalier would at full term (gestation is 9 weeks for a dog ). I think we might have one or two more than the six we saw on the scan.
Ysobel came onto heat last Thursday, so we will hope for Reggie to be whispering sweet nothings to her at the beginning of June .
We have Smudge on heat at the moment but we will not be looking to breed from her this time.
Millie is well after being spayed and in the photo's below you will see she has been enjoying cuddles with our children in an upturned wheelbarrow.
We have a lovely little collection of photo's tonight and we have Smudge sporting her new hairdo courtesy of our daughter Molly. I came in from milking to find Smudge with green hair and my husband laughing told me he had found Molly who is nearly six colouring in her head with one of those fat crayola felt tip pens. Molly said, "She let me do it Mum and I think she likes her new hair colour."  I suspect she did like it, as it felt like being stroked and dogs don't really care what colour their hair is.Lol. A testament though to her good temperament with our children.
Below are also photo's of Smudge fast asleep in the doorway to the kitchen and she happily stayed there as I was geting supper ready, with me having to negotiate her each time I went from the kitchen to the dinner table. I didn't have the heart to wake her when she looked so peaceful. She  woke up though when I stepped over her with the  pot of lamb stew we had for supper. Her nose soon woke her up then.

Oh Jane, green is definately the colour to be this year. Bella knows Mummy and Daddy are expecting and eagerly awaits news of her brothers and sisters. Such an exciting time for those humans waiting for one of the very special Poundlane Cavapoos.

Bella is fine, went to the groomers on Friday and on Saturday found something awful to roll in that obviously had an upset tum!! She is currently playing with her ball collection. They range from 1 1/2 inches to a football. Her catching would get her into the England Cricket Side. Her speech is very accurate at informing us which piece of furniture the balls have been placed under.

Good Luck with Dolly, will watch the blog with interest.
Regards
Margaret and Bella

Bella found a prickly brown ball in the garden last night, although scared she knew it was interesting. Flea and tic treatment checked for being up to date!!!
