Hope you are all ok.

Thanks Viv and Jan for the update and cute photo of Barney. I'm okay thanks. I've not blogged for a couple days as I just took a day out on Saturday and on Sunday morning arriving home from milking I found my Mum on the floor of her annexe which is to the side of our home, she had fallen and broke the ball joint off the top of her hip. She's had an op to repair it yesterday and all going well at the moment.

Ouch! Your poor mu - . hope she is soon on the mend.

On the subject of nipping - when I got my first cavalier puppy I had a copy of "Dr Dunbar's Good Little Dog Book". He suggests that when they nip you should squeak or yelp loudly which is what another puppy would do and they will stop. (Do they Jane? I don't know having only had one puppy at a time.) It worked for me anyway and my puppy soon knew that chewing on a toy was fine but not on me! They do seem to go thro a shoelace phase which can be very annoying too. But it's worth it in end!

Tried yelping when Barney nipped me and he stopped right away and put his head from side to side looking at me it was so cute and funny at the same time as I wondered what he was thinking he thought he would nip me again ha.

The method you mention does work and if nipping is a problem is a method I suggest to try first. If more persistently biting at your hands try to discourage by using toys. There is a way of catching hold of the bottom jaw with a pup, that gives them a moment of discomfort, but will stop them biting your hands if becoming a problem.
