Got this lovely set of photos and an update for Alfie yesterday from Joan and Colin, who as you can see are in the Alps. Alfie is Blottie and Bumble's litter sibling from our first ever litter of Cavalier/Brittany pups born last year Smudge has nine little Hudges "Hi Jane and all at Poundlane, we spent a beautiful day high in the Alps with Alfie and he was in his element. We were at 2000 metres and surrounded by beautiful meadows full of wild flowers. The only sounds were the crickets and cowbells. There was quite a large herd of cows that are milked for making cheese and they get round the remoteness of the area by having a mobile milking wagon. Alfie thought the cow pats were there for his benefit and couldn't resist a quick cowpat snack at any opportunity, little horror! Primroses' puppies are looking wonderful, growing fast and I too have fallen in love with Ernest... He's a very handsome boy with a very endearing character, and seeing him and Lily playing Henry to get foxyloxy was very funny. Alfie gives us so much pleasure, every day is a learning day for him, he is so eager to please and he's a lovely companion. He has turned out to be a brilliant traveller, coping with the 12 hour journey by car without any fuss, it's a case of head down when were travelling and a enjoying a little walk when we stop every 2 - 3 hours. Best wishes to you all Joan and Colin" Thanks Joan and Colin for the update on Alfie and the lovely photos. Looks and sounds like my kind of place. The milking station is interesting. We used to have several herds milked like this in the UK and in recent years we have seen it coming back Meet the farmers with the mobile milking parlour
The first parlour I milked in for around 14 years, was a six abreast parlour that was originally a mobile parlour used in the Salisbury area and the farmers I worked for bought it as stationary parlours became popular and took the bottom off and put it on a concrete base. Good to hear that Alfie has got a lot better at travelling. Not nice getting car sickness. Thanks again Joan and Colin, especially that photo of Alfie and your description of your day, I could close my eyes and hear those crickets and cowbells.
