Yesterday saw Blottie at 12 days from coming on heat and instead of pairing her with Toby, I decided that Toby's son Ernest might be the better choice for Blottie. He is smaller than his Dad Toby, so will hopefully bring size down a bit more than Toby. So we may now use Toby with Blottie's smaller sister Bumble instead. You can understand now why I stopped doing waiting lists, as not having waiting lists gives me far more freedom to move things around.
And you may wonder how a maiden bitch who is a bit taller than a totally inexperienced stud dog have got on. Well, they seem absolutely smitten with each other and the union was soon consummated between them yesterday without any assistance. They will meet up now every 24 to 48 hours until Blottie decides she is not so smitten with Ernest's advances.
Blottie and Ernest should produce a litter of very elegant spaniel types being 5/8 Cavalier, 1/4 Brittany with a 1/8 smidgen of Miniature Poodle.
You can also follow the development and ongoing story of our next litters on The POUNDLANE Spaniel or Puppies available page, which gives all the relevant blog links to read about our next litters.
