Primrose's five pups doing well

Unfortunately the puppy that had emptied his bowels before being born deteriorated further during the night and at 2 am when I checked them my husband, David and I took the decision to remove him from the litter and stop his suffering. His stomach was fully distended, he had started to gasp for air accompanied by the tell tale gurgling sound of fluid on the lungs and the stench on his breath of bacterial infection could be smelt.

It is never nice losing a puppy, even this young an attachment is made and you hope against all odds that they might pull through. You have to move on though and be positive Primrose is well and she has five other pups who all seem to be rearing on at the moment well. Even little Tiddler seems to be holding his own.
