Husband watching the football on bbc1 or Soccer if your in America so thought won't be missed so get a quick blog in.
The last blog was caught short due to my husband arriving with our fish supper after a day out with the kids & not eating since late morning & it was gone 9 in the evening, the heady smell of battered cod with vinegar on it reminded me that I was hungry. They went down a treat as could not remember the last time we had takeaway fish & chips.
Enough about my eating habits & on with the blog.
A week ago tuesday we took Lucy, Ysabel & Dolly for their annual eye test at Tavistock with Reggie coming along for his first eye test. Although Reggie is gene tested clear that he does not carry or get Prcd a form of Proggrresive Retinal Athrophy there is another type they can get & at the moment the only way to check for this is by annualy eye testing them.
All the Cavalier girls where found clear of Cateracts & Myfocal Dysplacia which are the two eye problems which Cavalier's are tested for. Reginald was also found to show no signs of PRA in his eyes. So in high spirits we came back. My husband came with me having a day of work & with our three oldest children with us as we stopped up on Dartmoor giving the children & dogs a good run with then stopping at Torrington common for a ice cream & another chance to have another walk. Very lucky in the area we live with having some really stunning countryside around us.All the dogs enjoyed their outing with Reggie taking it all in his stride.
Another thing which we have decided is that we our only going to bred the cross with the Miniature Poodle & a month ago rehomed Rocco a Toy Poodle boy we had. He has gone with an old friend of one of my sister's & has settled in really well with their other little dog. We decided this as we feel the Miniature cross produces a family size dog robust enough to take the handling of young children as any good Toy Poodle breeder would tell you that they are unsuitable with young children & crossing them with the Cavalier tends to produce a dog that I would feel unsuitable for family life with young children. If we carry on to breed F2 Cavapoos it will be the Miniature cross that I feel offers me the type of family dog I wish to breed in type & health.
Smudge is finally off heat & we can stop playing musical chairs with the dogs. Just waiting for Dolly & Ysabel to come on heat & really looking forward to seeing what Reggie can produce.
The photo's tonight our a selection of sleeping Cavaliers & Cavalier's & Reggie begging from my children eating cake, look out for the sleeping Reggie chilling with my daughter Matilda. Looks like the footballs finished & husbands fallen asleep. Better go & wake him.lol
