Lottie Christmas update

4/1/2016

I received this update for Lottie just before the New Year from Felicity. Lottie is from Primrose's litter of Cavapoos born in 2014, with her Dad being Reggie.

'Dear Jane, David and family

Hope all is well with you all and doggies.

I saw you have put my card on your blog this week Jane, getting Lots to look at me for that picture was challenging!

Just a short update, Lottie is fine, her usual loving and nutty self!
Towards the end of the summer, she did have a few problems with her left eye.
First of all she developed a sty on the bottom lid. We did bathe it with warm water to try and soften and get it to reduce, but after a
week it had only reduced a little. Lots always likes rubbing her face after eating her food, and one morning realised she had popped
the sty when doing this, so took her to the vets in case any of the infection had been rubbed in her eye.
She had a course of antibiotics for a week and it gradually reduced, although took a while to completely disappear.
Then just few weeks later, on waking one morning, her eye was totally closed and very wet and runny.
Having no idea what was wrong, managed to get to the vets that morning and discovered two problems – she had somehow
banged the left hand corner, and bruised it. Was given antibiotics drops to put in for week.
The other problem however is unfortunately more ‘ongoing’. My vet realised Lots has an ‘ingrowing’ single eyelash on the top lid that had started scratching the eye.
He managed to tweezer around 90% of it out, but of course it will grow back in time, being a growing hair follicle.
All this was a while ago now, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed this pesky eyelash doesn't grow too quickly!
Lots will need a little op (or some electrolysis) to sort the problem in the long term. Will let you know how things go with that!

I expect the children (and the doggies too) are getting excited for tomorrow!
Hope you have a enjoyable Christmas – think Lots is going to get quite a few prezzies!

The attached pikky I took this morning.

Best wishes, love

ps. Sending you this a little late Jane, as have had problems with my outgoing email for the past few days!'

I replied Felicity saying,

'Hello Felicity,

Happy New Year!

Sorry I have not replied your email sooner. Sorry to hear about a problem with the ingrowing eye lash. Hair follicles can become damaged and cause the hair to grow out at the wrong angle. I had an old Cavalier called Smidge and when he was around 10 years old (He lived to 14) I noticed one of his nose whiskers had grown and kinked back round and touched his eye. I trimmed it and it would grow each time so far and then kink back towards his eye and if left untrimmed it would of touched his eye. Let me know how Lottie gets on with her eyelash.

Thanks for the Christmas card. Hope you had a good Christmas and Lottie enjoyed her prezzies.

Love from us all at Poundlane

Jane x"
