'The force is strong with this one'

Blottie is one of the girls we kept from our first ever litter of Cavalier/Brittany puppies. 'The force is strong with this one.' You may ask what 'the force' is? It is the level of drive she has to hunt.
I must admit I get a great joy in working with her and an immense pleasure in watching her. She has amazing athleticism. She can jump a five bar gate from a stand still and jump a barb wire fence with a ditch the other side without breaking her stride. Some of the things she tackles. makes you look through your fingers, but she seems to be a good judge of her own ability so far.

I am someone who already has shared my life with cavaliers and had a few heart stopping moments when they - what was it you said the Duke of Marlborough called it - "break"? i.e. when they are so involved in what they are doing they don't respond to calls, whistles, treats etc.
So I am interested to know, given she is a keen hunter, if Blottie is good on her recall like Henry?

Her recall has not been sharp, but recently we seemed to of turned a corner with this. We have never lost her, but she has almost made be have kittens a few times. The last few weeks though she has become more attentive to me out walking and started to understand that she does not need to run half a mile away and then start quartering, she can do it around me as we walk along.
She is a natural social dog, makes new friends easily and lead training has been effortless with her, she is not a puller. Her sister, Bumble on the other hand can be a bit timid in new company and was a steam train puller when lead at first, but she is absolutely brilliant off the lead on recall, which is probably down to the fact that she is a little bit timid compared to Blottie.

Isn't interesting how different they are even though they are both from the same "nest".
With my first cavalier I tried all the suggestions - including me running away and me hiding - but she had such a good nose that she didn't feel lost because she always knew where I was. I think she also had that trust that cavaliers have in humans and assumed that I wouldn't dream of abandoning her!
