Got these lucky captures of Sadie and Obi today. Saw them sat together, with Obi like a dog gnome sat on the log. Run and got a camera, and they were still there. Obi and Sadie will be staying together, when they leave us. Yesterday evening got a quick email to let me know Eddie had got home with Jackie and Nigel safely. Today I received a lovely update for his first 24 hours in his new home. "Hi Jane and family After getting Eddie home yesterday he seemed really calm and relaxed - and surprisingly confident! He slept fairly well in his pen - only a few cries. Today started training and playing in the garden. He has eaten his food well after initial encouragement. Oh and he LOVES his cuddles. Thank you for everything you have done and getting him ready for the journey Jackie, Nigel and Eddie x" Part two, because it would not load up on the other blog. Eddie is on his way to the Midlands (as I type this up), with Jackie and Nigel. Eddie has been a lovely chap to rear. The second biggest of Blottie's nine pups, after Alfie, but not quite the gung-ho nature of his slightly bigger brother. Eddie has laid back style about him, and has seemed happier to take a leisurely pace to life. A confident, and very loving chap. I wish Jackie and Nigel all the best with big gentle Eddie. Blottie's pups that remain with us had their second Lepto4 vaccinations today. Eddie leaves tomorrow, Esme on Sunday with Sadie and Obi leaving on Monday. Flossie we are still in the process of weaning off steroids, after she has had puppy strangles. Hopefully not many more days, and we can then start her vaccinations. The photos below are of the pups resting. Anyone notice anything? Alfie leaves us tomorrow. The cuddle monster (always up for a cuddle) of the litter. Our two youngest children are really going to miss this chap. Tucker left yesterday, and I got an email in the evening to let me know that he had got to his new home safely. Thanks Lisa. Hope all is going well. "Hi Jane, We arrived safely at home around 4:30pm. Tucker was such a good boy during the trip that we managed to drive all the way home in about 4.5 hours without stopping. He slept for most of the journey, waking up a few times but going back to sleep pretty fast. About an hour from home he more properly woke up, I think in part because we'd reached the car park of London traffic. We gave him a chew and he settled down with that, and we made it the rest of the way home. We took him straight to the garden and he had a good sniff and play. He was definitely a bit nervous at first, but seemed to get the hang of it and was running around after half an hour or so. He, eventually, had a poo. He also met a bunch of neighbours from other flats and everyone admired him, especially how friendly he is. He let everyone pick him up and he happily went adventuring around the garden while stopping by his new friends for pets. He met Ted, the 12 year old energetic dog from a neighbouring flat, who is very good with puppies. As soon as we took him inside the flat, he fell asleep on us and then we moved him to his crate. This wasn't initially acceptable - he woke up, wondered over and fell asleep on me. The second transfer to the crate went a bit better. We've offered him food, but he wasn't too interested, so we took him outside again where he had a wonder around before falling asleep on my lap where he currently still is. He's such a wonderful little boy. No doubt our heart strings are going to be tugged tonight. We've already had a few preview whimpers when he initially wakes from a nap. We'll let you know how it goes! Thank you so much. We'll be in touch again soon. Lisa and Tom" Tucker left us today, so we are now down to only five of Blottie's nine pups still with us. Eddie is the next to leave us on Thursday. Big gentle Eddie. Tucker is on his way to London (as I type this), with Lisa and Tom. One of the shyer pups of the litter, but with a bit of encouragement soon overcomes his initial fear, when doing something new. A very loving little chap, who loves a cuddle, especially enjoys his ears being stroked. I wish Lisa and Tom all the best with Tucker. I don't he's going to be lacking for cuddles with the two of them. Just over eleven weeks old, and Blottie still likes to give her pups a suckle every now and then. This was 5 am this morning. T'is more comfort than ought else. Tucker is the next of Blottie's pups to leave us. He leaves for London tomorrow. Ralphie got home safely with Peg yesterday, and I received a lovely email, and photo of him, making himself at home already. "Hi Jane,
Thank you so much for all the useful things and info, and for timing Ralphie's journey home so well. He woke just very briefly half way home, had a little sniff round then went straight back to sleep for the whole way home. He seems to have accepted his new home pretty well. 2 wees and a poop in the garden, playtime and 2 good naps in his crate, and lots of fun outside. Hopefully he will be tired for tonight! We are so thrilled to have him here!! Warm regards. Peg" I have been a bit forgetful lately blogging, and forgot to blog that Bella got home safly, after leaving us last Thursday. "Hi Jane
Thank you sooo much for Bella! She was a real treasure on the way home and no problem at all in the car. She slept most of the way and then all but demolished a chew for the remaining 20 minutes of the journey. Then once we got home she had some fun playing indoors and out, and was back and forth in her crate like a pro. Poor Foxy has taken a real beating! But then came bedtime. How can such a little bundle of fun make such a pitiful noise - gentle whining to begin with followed by her audition for Hounds of the Baskervilles. I gave in after about 5 minutes though as I thought she'd been through so much today she deserved a break! And now she's curled up asleep on my bed as if she hasn't a care in the world. Something tells me I may have made a rod for my own back, but I'm sure she'll settle after a few days and we're confident of better bedtimes to come! I had to laugh when she met the chickens! She nosed up to their fence in her inquisitive way and one of them squawked at her - she jumped back on all fours at once and looked at me as much as to say "what was all that about"! Fun times ahead! She really seems at home here if just a few hours are anything to go by and I'm so looking forward to this next phase of my life. Much love, Judith x" Belated 7th Birthday greetings for Millie, from Smudge's litter born 27th May 2012 Nine little pups all in a row "Hello Jane, I hope you and the family are all well from your website I know that you are very busy. Lovely to see Blotties pups thriving I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since I found you and gained a wonderful cavapoo, Millie, as everyone who is lucky enough to have one of your pups says they are just a joy to have we always have comments when we walk as to how lovely she is. Millie really is loved by us all the only health issue we have is her itchy paws and ears I was interested to see that Lola has the same problem. I had planned to ask you your thoughts on Apoquel Millie has this as and when she has a bad breakout of itchiness, I have researched Apoquel and was not very happy with the potential side effects and the fact it suppresses the immune system which I believe could hide any other potential problems. From what I have read it appears not to have been tested for use over 30 days I am not comfortable in Millie taking this on a permanent basis. I have a number of sprays we use and I have changed her diet to try and help so most of the time it’s manageable. Would be interested in your thoughts on this. Looking forward to reading how the pups get on in their new homes. Love, Alison and Millie xx" "Hello Alison,
great to hear from you. I understand your concerns about giving anything for a prolonged period that suppresses the immune system. I have read up about Apoquel, I suppose it's balancing how bad the itching is and effecting the dog's welfare. I suspect finding out what causes the itching to kick off, can go a long way to managing it without using medications. Apoquel sounds like it helps when a dog has a major itching crisis, but due to lack of data for long term use. I would personally be a bit cautious. Thanks for keeping in touch over the years. Love from us all Jane x" 5th birthday greetings for Lottie and Dottie who are from Primrose's litter born the 9th/10th May 2014 It's six Thanks for keeping in touch over the years. "Dear Jane and family, I hope all is well with you there. Yesterday was Lotties birthday, where on earth did five years disappear to!!! Lots is fine, as usual my very loving, gentle and nutty little girl. She is so good and patient, letting me do anything, from checking her teeth- to even wiping her bottom- when necessary!! Back in February, Lots was 'in the wars' - she'd been in my Mums garden and came back in with her face all muddy, we cleaned her up and I didn't think anymore of it till the next day when I noticed a nasty looking pussey wound quarter the way along her spine. Not knowing what it was, managed to get her to the vets (on a Sunday) and when my vet had shaved and throughly clean the area, we could see it was a bite mark ( could see the teeth marks!). Lots had an injection and was on antibiotics for a week; it took another few weeks to completely heal; she has now got a little bald spot there but it doesn't notice too much! Hope all the pack are ok and your current pups are growing up fast! I enclose couple of pikkys of Lots yesterday. Lots sends birthday wishes to her siblings for yesterday and today. Best wishes and love, Felicity and Lottie.xx " "Hi Jane , Hope you and your family are all well , the puppies look bonnie and we have so enjoyed watching their progress on your blog . So hard to believe Dottie’s five today , she is still such a wonderful bundle of fun ,and brings us a lot of joy . She’s well now but did have a bout of tummy trouble a few months ago, the vet did lots of tests all came back clear apart from a faecal result showing the presence of clostridium . Fingers crossed a course of antibiotics and a change of diet seems to of sorted it . I took couple of photos today of the birthday girl , hopefully I’ll manage to send them successfully ! First one was at Hever Castle on our walk today , second one is Dottie with her new squirrel toy , last one having a cuddle ( she’s bit scruffy, due a haircut next week). Love to you all Sue ,Colin and Dottie xx" Took these photos a couple nights ago and nearly forgot about them. Ralphie left us this morning for Ivybridge with Peg. To think around seven weeks ago, I was nursing him, thinking he might not make it, after having some sort of stomach upset at eighteen days old. Four visits to the vets for fluids and antibiotics, with round the clock nursing, he pulled through, and what a little character. I wish Peg and her family all the best with Ralphie. They are going to have so much fun with this little chap.
