Alison emailed me a couple days ago with a 6th Birthday update for Millie, who is one of Ollie's litter siblings. "Dear Jane, I hope you and your family are well, I am an avid reader of your blog and it's been lovely watching the pups grow over the past few months. I cannot believe Millie is now six, I hope all of her brothers and sisters are all well and am sure as much loved members of the family as Millie is. It's interesting to read about Smudge as there are so many similarities with Millie I would prefer it if she did not enjoy rolling in fox and horses poo though. The only ongoing health issue with Millie seems to be itchy ears and paws - she doesn't break the skin on her paws but she licks them so much the fur is brown. She has had sprays and medication from the vets but it never clears up completely. It has been suggested that the licking is more of a habit now. I am trying fish oil on her food at the moment to see if that helps but am open to any suggestions you may have. Looking forward to your next blog. Love Alison and Millie " "Hello Alison,
great to here from you as Millie reaches six years old. If the itchy ears and paws is caused by yeast infections, dietary changes may help, but like someone has suggested it now might be a habit, which may be a hard habit to break. Talking with a animal behaviorist might be helpful, if it has become a habit. Thanks for your support over the years Alison. Love from us all at Poundlane Jane x"

Started Bumble's pups car trips this morning with Herbie going first, as he will leave us first this Friday. He did well for his first trip on the morning school run, a little bit of whimpering, but was not to worried. All the pups were microchipped and had their first vaccination of their primary course of vaccinations around midday today, so held off taking a puppy on the afternoon school run, as best not to stress the pups to much just after being vaccinated. Will resume car trips tomorrow. Hannah visited us again tonight to meet Bumble's chocolate and white boy, and decided he was the one for her, naming him, "Bertie."
Kathy has visited me the last two weekends for cuddles with Bumble's pups waiting patiently for her turn in the list of people on the litter to choose her pup. She really liked one of the Blenheim girls, and luckily she was still available for her and she is calling her, "Saffron."
Saturday Ursula, David and their daughter Isabel visited us to meet Bumble's pups and decided on the other tricoloured boy in the litter, and today gave me a name, "Dylan."
I got home from milking yesterday evening to be told that Jan and Viv had rung up, and hoped to pick up Barney around 7 pm. They have had a bit of a time getting home from Madeira, as strong winds have made flying in to and out of the island difficult. They finally have made it home, seven days after they had planned to be home and pick up Barney. They arrived around 7 pm and I went out with Barney on the his lead to greet them, and as soon as he saw them, he was beside himself with joy.
Thanks Viv and Jan for the bottle of Madeira wine. I have made a discovery Phillips of Bristol Lovage and Madeira wine make for a very nice tipple together. Received a 6th Birthday update for Ollie from Sharon today. Ollie is from Smudge's first ever litter, which was with our Reggie. Ollie was one of Nine pups, so a big "Happy 6th Birthday" to Ollie, Archie, Crumble, Millie, Hunny, Dougle, Lola, Tiggy and Darcy. Hope you and your families are all well. Ollie and his siblings are maternal half Uncles and Aunties to Blottie and Bumble's pups. "Hi Jane Hope everyone is well at Poundlane. The new pups are gorgeous !! Well Ollie is 6 day and is really well. I hope all of his (was it 8 ) siblings are all happy and well. Ollie is definitely top dog in our house and Bertie copies everything he does. They are so funny and such lovely companions. Best wishes to you all Sharon Morris Ollie & Bertie :)" "Hello Sharon,
Happy 6th Birthday Ollie! Ollie takes after his Mum and Grandmother at being a top dog. Yes, he was one of nine and he is now also an Uncle eighteen times, with his maternal half-sisters being Blottie and Bumble. Great to hear from you as another year passes. Bertie looks a lovely chap and great to hear they are such lovely companions to each other. Thanks for keeping in touch. Love from us all at Poundlane Jane x" Some new toys for Bumble's pups to play with, courtesy of Louise, who's family are having Darla
Made a bit of a pigs ear out of filming the pups today having their first explore beyond the patio wall, thinking I had the camera turned on to video, when I had not turned it on, but I did manage to get a bit of footage. Debbie, Grant and their three boys choose a tricoloured boy on Sunday, and today they decided on his name, "Herbie."
Son, Thomas just happened to catch this super cute photo of Darla. Will hope to get more photos and some video footage up tomorrow. Just been a bit busy the last few days, to get to many photos taken.
Teagol chills out with her Grandfather, Toby. Bumble lies with her Blenheim girl our children call, "Crumble." Bumble's pups reach seven weeks old today and Bumble is naturally weaning them off, but occasionally they ambush her, and if they can all latch on, she has to stop up. Today another puppy was reserved by Debbie, Grant and their three boys. They are adding another boy to their roll call. They choose the very handsome tricoloured boy I call, "Mole Pidler" and why I call him that will be apparent when you watch the end of the video. Debbie is going to give me a name for him in a day or so. |
