Well its nearly the end of the year & from Dolly's & Ysabel's litters we have five pups still with us but in the next couple days they will also leave for their new homes hopefully as on Tuesday Izzabel should of left for her new home & with Peter here ready to leave with her a very unfortunate accident happened as one of my sons went out on the patio not looking behind him shutting the door right on Izzabel's leg. We calmed Izzabel down from the shock of the accident but from her reaction & obvious pain in her leg I new this was a bit more than a bruise. Peter was very good about the whole situation & it was agreed that we would get her to the vets & Peter would make his way back to Leicester & await news. She was given pain relief & an anti-flammatory & being a bank holiday we then took her back for an X-ray the next day. This showed a small chip at the bottom end of her radius. It was decided to get a second opinion on this from an orthopedic vet & we hope to have this on Tuesday. My vet feels it will be a case of just keeping her quiet & hopefully surgery will not be needed. The main worry is tendon damage now & athritis in the joint in later life. She is doing really well. She has a slight limp at times limp but this does not seem to deter her from wanting to play, so the hardest thing we face at the moment is trying to not let her be to boisterous which is easier said than done with a 8 week old puppy. So with pups leaving & Izzabel's accident let alone Christmas & the New Year with the children to occupy it has been a bit of a stressful week. My appologise to emails I have yet not answered but will hope to get back on top of things in the next week. Below are a group of photo's of pups playing with my apron string. This is now put up out the way but the photo's show just how much fun you can have with an apron string. We are already getting reports back from the pups that have left us over the Christmas period. Alfie who went first on the 21st his family have rang me to say he is settling in well & is house training really well. Otis's & Poppy's family's have both rang me to say they got home okay & they are settling in. Margaret has spoiled me already with photo's below & a very cute video of Bobby her Cavalier now 12 years old playing with Bella. Margaret thank you. You look as happy as a pig in muck with your Bobby & Bella. Bobby & Bella playing together below. Lucy's Cavapoo pups are now 4 weeks old. They are getting more playful with each day & Lucy is doing a wonderful job with them. Within the next week they will be chosen by their respective family's & be named. Primrose as you can see in the photo's likes to lie with them & Lucy is happy with her doing this as she let Primrose suckle her when she had her last litter & Primrose was over 4 months old. I think when Dolly's & Ysabel's pups all go that Lucy's pups are not going to want for mothering. Lastly tonight we say farewell to 2011 a year that has been sprinkled with ups & downs & maybe in the first half for Poundlane more downs than ups but life is swings & roundabouts & if you can manage a smile & laugh which is the best medicine your doing okay, as they say you have to get up dust yourself off & start all over again so from all of us at Poundlane human & canine we wish everyone a Happy New Year & dust yourself off for 2012 !
I have gone through my emails trying to find photo's kind people who have sent me in the last few weeks. Being busy with the pups & Christmas on the horizon I have got a little behind with catching up. If I have missed any photo's out I apologise as I know I accidently deleted Vanessa's photo of Alfie 2 with a bow in his hair after his Christmas haircut. So thankyou to Roxy's family, Alfie 1's (From our very first ever litter) & Kym's family, Poppy's family, Oscar's family, Jasper's family & Scrumpy's family for the photo's & letting me know all is well. We are now down to 4 pups from Dolly's litter as 4 have now gone to their new homes being Alfie, Betsy, Cyril & Luna. Have a great Christmas with your new family member & wishing a Merry Christmas to all others waiting to pick their pup up. Lucy's Cavapoo pups are 3 weeks old today & are already up on all fours trying to eat & are very forward for their age. Merry Christmas to the five families waiting to meet each of these chunky little chaps & little lady. Lastly to everyone wishing you all a Merry Christmas with warm regards from all at Poundlane !
Today Dolly's & Ysabel's Cavapoo pups had their first vaccination & where all microchipped with this they are now covered for 28 days by Petplan insurance. Cyril has found a home & very local to us being Ilfracombe about 30 miles away. Jane came & saw him yesterday & confirmed later she definately wanted him & he leaves tomorrow. The last to be reserved but one of the first to leave us. I have put on their mug shoots tonight as tomorrow they will start to leave us, so this is the last night of all of the 14 pups together. They are a very pretty & handsome group & are sure to bring lots of fun & a few sleepless nights (to start with) in their new families but with a little careful nuturing & patients they should all make valued members of their new homes. The first group of photo's are Dolly's litter & the second group are Ysabel's litter. The last group of photo's below are of Lucy's Cavapoo pups now 17 days old. They are opening their eyes now & are getting very mobile & when you touch them will sometimes wag their tails which always tickles me when they first do that. A bit busy now with Christmas upon us but will try to get a blog or two in before the big day. Lets go & get me feet up now, if only so they do not get chewed by marauding puppies ! Quick one tonight as just wanted to share some photos of Reggie having playtime with his children showing Reggie is not just the Father of these pups but is also proving to be their Dad. Christmas is coming & the goose has got a lot of puppies to look after! Dolly's & Ysabel's pups are now into everything & everywhere. Weather permitting we are trying to get them outside for little runs which they really enjoy. From 6 weeks pups start to really want to explore the world around them & will explore further each day if allowed. We allow a lot of exploring with our pups before leaving like meeting Hungry Hoover & the scary flushing Loo Monster. Very funny the other day as Alfie & Bella confidently followed me into the loo to then beat a hasty retreat when I flushed the loo but then curiosity got the better of them & their to heads soon reappeared around the door. The five days differance in this two litters is becoming less apparent each day & to the unknowing it would be hard to tell the litters apart as Mums happily nurse & interact with the pups regardless of their parentage. I actually caught Dolly in with Lucy this morning & she had two of Lucy's pups sucking her. I ushered her out but Lucy seemed unworried by Dolly's help in rearing her pups now 9 days old. Photo's tonight of Dolly's & Ysabel's pups I have labelled some photo's that I am sure of the pups in them & I have emailed some today with photo's of their pup & over the next couple days will hope to send individual photo's to all the people who have these pups reserved but bare with me as things are a little busy at the moment. Lucy's Cavapoo pups are all growing at a rapid rate & Mum Lucy looks after them with ease. They are very Golden in colour & like Lucy's last litter look a strong & healthy bunch. Lastly tonight a couple photo's of Lucinda for Sue & Jim in Australia. She is very settled & you might notice that I have got round to trimming her ears as you asked me if I could do. Dolly's & Ysabel's Cavapoo pups are now living together in harmony. Mum's allow any pup to suckle them regardless of who's they are although Mum's are now slowly allowing less time to suckle for the pups & can be found gentle playing with them at times which is always lovely to watch Mum interacting playfully with their pups. They are getting braver by the day & I leave the pen get open certain times of the day & each day they adventure further from the den. The funniest thing to see is when they are all asleep I go in once a day & hoover around the pen with my industrial sounding hoover & they do not stir but forget to undo the pen door without clicking it & they are all sat up wide awake. I have booked them in today with the vet for their first vaccination & to be microchipped on the 20th December, as only 5 days apart we will have the vet visit us & do both litters together. Pups can have the first vaccination from 6 weeks but the second must not be done before 10 weeks old. Most people start vaccinations at 8 weeks, as my vet told me if Mum is vaccinated her antibodies passed on in her milk are just starting to wane in the pup around 8 weeks old. Due to Christmas we are having to do them a bit before 8 weeks to be sure to get them done before leaving us. Lucy's Cavapoo pups are 4 days old today & are already looking tubby. Lucy is doing a sterling job of mothering them & like all are Mum's is very attentive Lastly a lovely photo taken by my son Bert of Millie snuggled up with her daughter Smudge, just showing your never to big for a cuddle with Mum.
Thanks Toni & Tracey for sharing Poppy's & Roxy's Birthday photo's. It only seems the other day that we first all meet & you all patiently waited for Lucy's first litter. Poppy & Roxy are from Lucy's first litter a year ago & Lucy now has produced her second litter exactly a year later. Both are stunning girls who are proving to be head turning but very well behaved girls who are a credit to Toni & Roxy. Lucy is finding it a breeze with her five pups. She has loads of milk & the pups are growing in front of my eyes. Its a quick blog tonight but lastly have to say we have had one black boy from Dolly's litter become available. We have named him Cyril after a pup we had in Dolly's last litter & he was the last to be reserved to. Cyril is a very cute chap & is one of the adventurers of the litter. He is very friendly little chap. With Mum's & Dad's looks & temperment he is sure to make a loving & very handsome companion & family dog. If interested email us on [email protected] or ring to know more about Cyril on 01769 560969. Lucy after a very restless night started giving birth to her pups at 11.35am & had the last of the 5 at 5.45pm. Exactly a year to the day after her last litter. So Happy Birthday to all Lucy's pups ! After an all but sleepless night up watching Lucy & with three viewings of pups today I am a little tired. Thanks Julie, Mr & Mrs Sharpe & Claire & family for putting up with my sometimes unattentiveness as I had one eye on Lucy on your visits today. Below a couple photo's of Mum & Cavapoo pups a couple hours old. There are 4 boys & 1 girl & at this time are all spoken for.We have one boy weighing in at a whopping 11ozs as a good size is 8ozs so 11 is big but Mum gave birth easy & they seem to be all going on okay. I'm off to get some long awaited sleep ! Another hectic week with my Mum being admitted to hospital again Monday evening. She came home yesterday & seems brighter in herself today. Running around & the pups now being full on, time is at a premium. Dolly's litter is now 5 weeks old tomorrow & are into everything. They even had a 5 minute excursion onto the patio in a dry moment which they enjoyed. This time of year though you must be careful not to get them chilled. Our patio is well sheltered & enclosed so ideal for pups to make their first explorations into the outdoor world. Ysabel's litter are 5 days behind Dolly's but are quickly catching up. They are just getting into exploring beyond their crate & today have been interacting & playing with Dolly's pups. Both litters now react to your voice & are happy to be handled & picked up. They are becoming a big distraction in our home & great timewaster. We have busy weekend ahead with 4 pups meeting the families who they will be joining in the future. Dolly's Cavapoo pupsYsabel's Cavapoo pupsLucy is now over 8 weeks pregnant & with 9 weeks as the average gestation period for a dog & 4 or 5 days either way they can give birth Lucy is now in the 24 hour watch zone. She has been very uncomfortable today & has gone of her food & has been busy digging making a nest for the new arrivals.. Her temperature is dropping so not to many days to go. Lastly Smudge. Our dogs do like leather shoes to chew & a couple months ago my husband David forgot this & left his dealer boots over night on the floor of the utility. Smudge adopted the boots & as you can see in the photo she is very fond of one of them.
