Received this lovely update for Alfie from Joan and Colin, who are in the Alps with Alfie at the moment. Alfie is from Smudge's litter of nine little Hudges born last year on the 24th April. Alfie is our Bumble and Blottie's litter sibling. "Hi Jane, love your comments about the cows coming out in the spring. We are up in the Alps again and eagerly awaiting the "remontage des Alpes" when the cows come up the mountain in their full regalia of huge decorated bells, so we are hoping for good weather following the current snowstorm!! There is certainly plenty of lush green grass for them this year, so it could be (fingers crossed) an early remontage, at the beginning of May. We have started with a gun dog trainer for Alfie and are getting some good results. He definitely likes to work the fields and we are lucky that our neighbour in the UK is letting us use their fields for practice quartering. We'll be carrying on with the training while we are here too. I'll be sending you some pictures by email so you can see Alfie "at work" ps we're not using him for gun work, just for exercise and fun for him and he loves it.He s a dog who definitely likes to be busy. He was castrated just over 3 weeks ago and all went very well. He recovered very quickly and didn't need to wear a cone! thank goodness, I think he would have gone crazy with that on! We love keeping up with the Poundlane news, the puppies are beautiful and Treacle looks a lovely Mum. You have a lovely family Jane, Florrie's baking looks amazing..... I loved your scone recipe you sent me... it was the best ever! We are looking forward to Alfie and all the other Huddles birthday next week. I found a really appropriate cartoon for you, attached plus another of what Alfie likes to do best when the sun shines! Love to you all and well done Treacle, also nice to see Mummy Smudge back in the fold again... she's beautiful. Love Joan, Colin and Alfie. x" Joan and Colin where having some issues with recall with Alfie and I suggested trying the help of a Gundog trainer, as Gundog training is based around recall No recall, no gundog. Great to hear they are having the help of a Gundog trainer and it is fun and helping them.
Love the cartoons. The cake one certainly has happened a few times in our home. Looking forward to hopefully hearing from some of his siblings as they pass their first birthday. Thanks Joan and Colin for the lovely update on Alfie's adventures. Enjoy the cows going out!
