Another trot down memory lane: 'Here comes Harry'

Having Harry back (one of the Cavalier/ Brittany pups we bred last year) and the children calling him and saying, "Here comes Harry" reminded me of my sister's horse of that name.
Harry the horse my sister, Claire got by chance. Someone owed her money for horse transporting and could only pay her by letting her choose from their young stock, before they went bankrupt. She choose two foals, a filly which she sold on and a colt foal she named Harry. Harry was gelded and was at first put into training to run under rules, National Hunt with reasonable success. He was a bit of a tricky horse to get every thing right and would go down with any virus going at the drop of a hat, so only managed a few runs.
​Claire then decided to try her hand at training him herself to go Amateur racing, known as Point to Point. 
Claire employed me to do all is ridden work and if I recall rightly before the last meeting at Umberleigh, he had ran about 3 times picking up fourths in very competitive Men's Opens, on soft ground with around a 5 lb penalty, which is given to horses that have raced under rules until a certain time has passed since they were last racing National Hunt.
​The last meeting of the season in 2008, the ground was hard and fast, just right for him and his 5 lb penalty was off his back and he romped home winning by over 12 lengths.
