Blottie and Bumble
Last April we bred our first ever litter of Brittany cross Cavalier pups. Henry and Smudge became the proud parents of nine little Hudges as we jokingly called them.
For me now looking at the two girls we kept , Blottie and Bumble at 11 months it is all I hoped for. They are both quintessential spaniels. Bumble is a real lap dog and for most will be seen as the prettiest of the two. She is very loving and although enjoys running through the woods and chasing a squirrel up a tree, her sister, Blottie shows a stronger drive to hunt.
Blottie is a handsome dog, just like her Dad and her mother, Smudge. She has the most beautiful eyes with that far away look of a dog that loves to hunt. Now you might be thinking, that far away look in her eyes, comes from her Dad, being a working breed, a Brittany, but no. That look she has inherited from her Mum, who inherited it from her, Mum and my, over the years have we enjoyed where the look has taken us. Some of these old Cavaliers amazingly have retained a strong working drive and many Cavalier owners can vouch for that, when out with a dog lead, minus a Cavalier.
For me being around dogs, there can be no bigger reward than to watch a dog run, and they will love you even more for that freedom. Funnily giving them that freedom, is what will make you worth coming back to.
The photos taken indoors last night, were taken by our son, Thomas. The other photos outside were taken by me this morning.

Hi there.
I was just doing some research into cavalier x Brittany ‘pups’, and stumbled on your page.
Your fur babies are beautiful!!
I am picking up a cavalier x Brittany 8 month old boy today from a refuge (we are just too excited), and was just wondering if there are any tips you may have.
I do know both breeds well , but was wondering whether you found either of the breeds traits to come through more?
Thank you for your time :)

We have for the last 16months had a cavalier cross with? We had assumed a welsh springer but my daughter noted today that she was sure he was a Brittany spaniel cross cavalier?
If he was 7 months old when be got him from owners that due to health issues couldn’t continue to have him. He will be 2 years old on 7th May. I have asked the previous owners for his purchase history but didn’t receive a reply. They live in Bristol.
If I post a photo for you could you say if you think he is part Brittany/Cavalier.
Kind regards Sue Beckett

Hello Susan,

you are welcome to send me a photo, but as the welsh and Brittany would probably create a similar look. My opinion would be one of conjecture.
He is not one of mine if you have the right birth date, and I none of the Brittany crosses I have bred were to anyone living in the Bristol area (I keep contact details of all the people who have pups from us), but I did note an advert for a Brittany cross Cavalier in between the two litters I have bred, advertised on the internet. Which would fall in to the timing of your dogs birth date.
If you want to find out more about the genetic makeup of your dog. A good way and fun way is by getting them DNA profiled. Just search "DNA profiling dogs UK" and you can find out where to start.

Hope this helps.
