I received this lovely email from Sue, over a week ago now. Did not realize the time passing. Sue and her husband, Jim have Lucy who is a bitch we re-homed a few years back . Sue has kept in touch and Lucy comes back to us occasionally when Sue and Jim holiday or visit their daughter and her family in Australia.
Thanks Sue for the lovely update on what Lucy has been up to. Sue asks me how Bert got on in his interview, which was his two day assessment to get in to Harrogate Military College. In the Easter holiday Bert turned 16 and went off to do his assessment and was offered a placement at the college. We are proud of him. Only around 50% of applicants to the Harrogate Military College get accepted. So in September our oldest child, Bert will be off up to Harrogate. Bert goes with our blessing. As much as we strive for a peaceful existence, we must be able to protect that existence. 'The fact that slaughter is a horrifying spectacle must make us take war more seriously, but not provide an excuse for gradually blunting our swords in the name of humanity. Sooner or later someone will come along with a sharp sword and hack off our arms.'
Carl von Clausewitz (1780 - 1831)
