This evening I was looking at the cupboards thinking a little bare, what can I do for dinner. I started with chucking some carrots, broccoli and cauliflower in the steamer. I was then just going to go for a cheese sauce and be done with it, but then I noticed a couple leeks in the bottom of the fridge, so softened them in the butter, before adding the flour and milk, now we got a leek and cheese sauce. I have a massive chunk of Davidstow cheddar in the fridge, as it was half price in Tesco's last week. I consider Davidstow cheddar one of the best tasting cheddar's on the market. It also makes a lovely cheese with biscuits. A biscuit not thought of as a cheese biscuit accompanies it well. The innocent looking Hobnob Biscuit. Hobnobs are more commonly known as the commando biscuit for dunking, but put a bit of butter on a hobnob with a slice of Davidstow cheddar, you will be transported to cheese and biscuit heaven. So we got veg, we got cheese and leek sauce on the go. A quick look in the back of the cupboard unearthed a tin of trusty spam. Diced up and browned off. A quick visit outside to cut some fresh parsley. Found a few sheets of lasagna that needed eating up along with a couple handfuls of fusilli pasta (spiral pasta to the rest of us) and a piece of Parmesan in the back of the fridge. Hey, presto I got myself a pasta bake. Even though I say it myself, "It was bloody delicious" and the dogs really enjoyed licking the dishes out after dinner, before they went in the dishwasher.
